The assignment was a challenge, the tasks were complex and the project plan was ambitious but the the province of Antwerp, Amplexor and Internet Architects are happy to present provincieantwerpen.be, version 2.0. This collection of over 20 responsive sites, each with their own look and feel, all belong to the province’s new and diverse digital presence.

The sites’ architecture is built on a components-based platform that contains the functional elements to assemble each website. By creating common components we were able to drastically reduce development time whilst simplifying maintenance for the coming years. Moreover, the site components have allowed the phased rollout of the 20 sites. Fotomuseum.be and momu.be led the way. The umbrella site provincieantwerpen.be was just presented to its large audience.

The new provincieantwerpen.be primarily targets visitors looking for more information on the province and its services. But it is also a great instrument to inform the broad public on the province’s policy.

In the coming months, we will continue to add more components to the platform, making the functionality available for all sites on the province’s platform. By choosing reusable components for a comprehensive site such as provincieantwerpen.be, we keep the information architecture very manageable and ensure ample flexibility to adapt the site to any future changes in the organization.

A faster website only bears fruit. Like we’ve told before: your customers’ time is your money. As your website loads faster, less people will abandon your website, they will stay longer and ultimately your bounce rate will benefit. A good performing website even impacts SEO, making sure it’ll be easier for (potential) customers to find you. A faster website improves conversion, it increases visitor satisfaction and it reduces visitor abandonment.
